Monday, 4th April 2005 saw the launch of a fleet of seven new Volvo buses
for Arriva- Buckinghamshire County council route 31 which operates between
Penn and Downley via High Wycombe town centre. The service is every 15
minutes and requires six buses to operate the schedule on weekdays. The new Volvos are the first new buses, for Arriva services, to be placed in service in High Wycombe since Arriva took over Wycombe Bus from the Go-ahead group in December 2000. I do not include the Varios and Dart SPDs which were first allocated to London tendered routes. The new buses are Volvo B7RLEs with Wright Eclipse Urban bodies and represent a significant investment in this recently revitalised service. A great deal of work has been done by the County Council in providing new bus stops and many of stops with "Kassel Kerbing" to allow easy access for disabled users plus Mums with buggies. I spent a pleasant couple of hours on Monday the 4th taking pictures of the latest arrivals which had only entered service that morning. I include a wide selection of pictures taken at various points along the route. Fleet and registration details are as follows

KE05FMX Note that these registrations correct those previously published on the OCBP. I now include a selection of pictures taken today of the buses at work. Sadly the weather was not too good but I hope everyone appreciates the views and that you can get a feel for the changes on the route. I am sure the users of this service will appreciate the new buses and one hopes that ridership will increase as a result of their introduction. I finally include a picture of 5851 which has a super rear advertising the route and the new buses. Malcolm Crowe - The Oxford Chiltern Bus Page - 4th April 2005. |
